Shananigan Report 2-12-2026

Greetings story lovers!

First off, I'd like to remind y'all that my 2026 yearly schedule is out on my main professional website.

This weekend I'm speaking at the Life, the Universe, and Everything, symposium in Provo, Utah. Two years ago, I thought I wasn't going to attend this anymore. While I love LTuE, and I've made many great friends here, it is logistically challenging and expensive to get myself, my crew, and a carload of books to and from Utah every year... in the middle of February. (If we're ever hanging out sometime, ask me about the snow storm in the Sierras and the crazy drive through it. 2024 marked 10 years of speaking at LTUE. That's a pretty solid run. So, two years ago, I set my ferrells and thought I'd call it a wrap on this event.

Then 2025 came around, and during the weekend of life the universe and everything...

My phone blew up!

I got: text messages, Facebook messages, Instagram messages, and even a couple of DMS on Blue Sky.

It seems some people either didn't get the memo that 2024 was supposed to be my last year, or they didn't believe me. Not only did people miss me, but apparently LTE was a whole lot quieter without me—at least to some people. Some messages were just people telling me how much they missed me. Others were checking to see if I was OK. Was I feeling well? Did something happen on my way to LTV? After all, in 2022, one of my tires blew out in Lovelock, Nevada, of all places. Did I need rescuing? It was all super flattering and touching.

Then... over the next few months... I kept running into people on Zoom gatherings who asked why I hadn't been at LTUE or told me how much I'd been missed.

So... fine...

I reached out to LTUE and asked if they had space for me, and here I am, writing this in an Airbnb after a day of teaching masterclasses. The crew is coming at some point this morning with my book stock. And of course... since Gallowglas is a verb (Gallowglas is what happens to an event when Gallowglas shows up)... we have plenty of shenanigans planned. Depending on how these go, we may carry them over to other events, which is why I'm telling you about them here in the Shenanigan Report.

If you're at LTUE, you can find my schedule and their interactive program.

Other than that, we're going to do some Gallowglas Army rogue programming, or p'rogue'ramming.

I've done the rogue programming at several events since COVID. I don't remember which convention inspired the idea of doing this; however, I do remember that they had promised me a certain number of panels, presentations, and scheduled FaceTime with attendees; however... when I got to the event, a tumbleweed rolled across my schedule card. So... in Gallowglassian and fashion... I took matters into my own hands. The program was born (though the name came later).

There's the p'rogue'ram. So many Gallowglas Army Shenanigans!

NEED YOUR HELP!

You'll notice that one of the rogue events is nerdy trivia. It's been a big hit at different events. I've already had people tell me that they are putting together a team. Any event that gets people excited like this needs a name! Help come up with it, and I'll think of a cool way to reward you. Let me know any ideas you have for naming our nerdy trivia night.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

We're doing the Gallowglas Army bingo cards. You mark off boxes by doing stuff to expand the awesomeness of the Gallowglas Army, supporting my books, and attending my official and unofficial events.

EVENT PATREON SPECIAL

Through the run of LTUE this year, I'm opening up yearly memberships to my Patreon with a 10% discount. If you love my work, this is a great way to support me. I just started the second season of Hardcore Fanboy and started a new podcast, Write Right Now.

One of the coolest benefits of being a Patreon member is the epistolary story you'll get in the mail every month. This year, you'll get to read the ongoing adventures of one Nathanal Hayze, hand-written, on fancy parchment paper. Several of my current patrons say they look forward to the letters every month.

That's it for now! If you're at LTUE, come say hi and hang out. If you're elsewhere, take a look at the schedule and let me know when and where we'll see each other in the future.

Slante!
