Shared Stories

I've decided to try something new at my tables when I attend events. I have a journal that I'll have out, and people who stop by can add one sentence to the story, with a twist. They only get to see the previous one or two sentences. When I get home from the event, I'll put all the sentences together, give the story a read, let it sit for a few days, then edit it into some semblance of a real story. In editing, I will change and add as little as possible. All the additions and changes I make will absolutely honor the spirit of where the contributors took the story.

The very first of these stories happened at Life, the Universe, and Everything in 2026. In working on the first story, I've decided I'm going to use the same opening sentence for each event in any given year. I'm curious and excited to see where each group of the Gallowglas Army takes this sentence:

In the transition between the fourteenth year of the Variety Merger, Sophie Marks worked the skeleton crew in the Office of Variance Disruption and saw the clock on her computer switch from 23:59 to 24:01.
