Shenanigan Report - Gallowmass is Approaching

This is going to be a long one. Be sure to head all the way down to the bottom for a sneak peak of what's coming to the Gallowglas Army site.

GATHERINGS

Every month, we do the Final Friday Social Hour from 5:30pm to 7pm (Pacific Time) on Zoom. I'll post the link in the Gallowglas Army Discord, or you can message me somewhere.

Starting in May, I'll be hosting Creative Co-Working Sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays from 7-10 in the Gallowglas Army Discord. If I'm running a class or workshop, I'll pop in to start the session, then bow out to do the class.

Also starting in May, I'll host the Second Saturday Show Off, which will be part open mic, part show and tell. Read us something. Show off that new thing you got. Tell us a story about a recent adventure. Brag about something cool you have or have done!

We're two weeks away from my birthday, which has grown beyond my control, thanks largely to the Gallowglas Army. Y'all continue to amaze and astound me with your support. With that being said, get ready for...

13 Days of Gallowmass!

I've got many in-person and virtual events throughout the whole celebration. Keep checking the schedule page. Even a couple of days ago, I had to move a couple of things around because my schedule changed up. That tends to happen in the life of a hustling creative. I hope to see some of y'all at the events.

We'll kick off with an in-person birthday party in the Northern Sacramento Area on May 5th, Cinco De Michael. The Adventure Chef is making Irish Tacos. I don't know what those are, so we'll find out together. Let me know if you want to attend, and I'll send you the virtual invitation. I don't want to dox my friend's house.

IRISH TACOS!!! (Also good wine, whiskey, hot tub, heated pool, and I might do some performing.)

Other Patreon Goodies

I'm wrapping up work on the Nathanal Hayze adventures, ending in May. Those are handwritten letters of a man conscripted into naval service. Current patrons have been receiving them in their snail mail. I've got two more of these coming up. One will be posted each day of Gallowmas and then emailed collectively on the Monday afterward. I'll also start a new monthly adventure in May. This one will be about a young woman who follows her grandfather into the desert to find their lost family goldmine.

I'm also posting daily audio recordings of The Wondering Project, a book I wrote a day at a time in 2023, where I mused about writing.

Short Story Saturday is returning. Patrons get to suggest titles for some of the stories.

That about wraps it up, but I promised a sneak peek of something coming to this site, just for people who sign up here. Starting on my birthday, and every Monday after that, you'll get new installments of Perchance to Dream, a post-apocalyptic, magical-surrealism story about a young woman who can give people dreams.

Here's a teaser:

Not for the first time, hell... not for the twentieth time... I peddled past the abandoned three-story house on that one corner in Midtown New SacTown – the one with brown paint and off-white trim with the words nogodNOgodnoGODnOgOdNoGoDnoGODnogod spraypainted in white on the side facing south, and thought, "Not even the end of the world can stop free-market capitalism.

Some nights, I'm super lucky, and the cloud cover keeps the moon from shining on the letters, and I get past the house without seeing those letters in their over-sized, ultra-bright whiteness and get on with my deliveries withoutn those words burned into my vision like a photonegative of staring into the sun. But this night was during the summer of silver smaug, so we hadn't gotten a truly dark night in the last several months, shat with all the shimmering clouds floating about and occasionally turning people into scaled monstrocities.

If you're reading this down the timeline, you either weren't born yet, were still in a fugue state from Armegodden Day, were spat out of some terror god's anti-dimension back to earth, or one of the luck maniacs whe we've managed to cure since the Summer of Silver Smaug.

More to come on May 5th!
